FAQ
Questions, answered plainly
Where is my browsing data kept?
On your computer, in Chrome's own storage. There is no server, so there is nothing to upload and nothing to leak.
How is this different from Chrome reopening my tabs?
Chrome reopens tabs, but every page starts at the top and every video starts at zero. It also keeps only the last session. ResumeTabs brings back your place on the page, and keeps a searchable list of sessions you can name.
If I stop a video halfway, will it start there again?
On most sites, yes. If a video is playing in the page and the site lets scripts read the timeline, it picks up where you stopped. Some players hide that, and there ResumeTabs just reopens the tab rather than pretending to know.
Does it save passwords, card details or codes?
Never. Password, email, phone and number fields are ignored, along with anything that looks like a card number, security code, one-time passcode or PIN — and everything on a sign-in or checkout page. Saving unfinished text is off unless you turn it on.
What about Incognito?
Nothing from Incognito is saved. Chrome does not load the extension there at all.
Will it slow Chrome down?
No. It saves when something changes rather than checking constantly, and it sleeps the rest of the time. Big sessions open a few tabs at a time and leave the rest asleep until you click them.
What happens if Chrome crashes?
Your session is already saved. Next time you open Chrome, it is offered back in one click.
Can I delete everything?
Yes. One button in settings wipes every saved session and setting from your device straight away.
Which browsers does it work in?
Chrome 116 or newer. Browsers built on Chrome, like Edge and Brave, can load it too, though Chrome is what it is tested against.
